MORE LETTERS NEEDED TO PROTECT SCHOOL FUNDING!
In February, the Lamorinda and Walnut Creek communities generated 4000 letters in less than two weeks, demanding that Proposition 98 school funding be protected. We joined voices with tens of thousands of others, and now the Governor has started to acknowledge that public education funding is a priority. At the recent Education Advocacy Day, we learned that grass roots pressure is the most effective means to edge the Governor and Legislature towards producing a budget that preserves Prop 98's minimum funding for schools.
Any parent, or voting citizen who opposes the cuts of $500,000 to $2.5 million that our local school districts each are now contemplating for the 2008-09 year, please download and sign this latest set of letters. Follow the directions enclosed and drop them in the letter collection box located in the office or the envelope in room 50. If you have any questions, contact your school's Legislative Representative, Lisa Hare.
