"Sam the Scientist" needs help FORMULATING FUNDS FOR B.V. SCIENCE!

In cooperation with the Buena Vista teachers, the PTA is sponsoring its annual SPELL-A-THON! This is our unique way of raising funds for our school as well as providing incentive for academic achievement.

This year the funds that are raised will be used to support the wonderful science program at Buena Vista. We need everyone's support as we work on "FORMULATING FUNDS FOR B.V. SCIENCE". The "formula" we need to create will be easy to accomplish if we all participate and work together.

Packets will be coming home this Wednesday, January 6. In this packet, the students are receiving a pledge sheet which they will use when asking sponsors for a monetary donation for each word they spell correctly on their Spell-a-thon test. The packet also contains a spelling list for your child, which they will need to study at home during the next two weeks.

After the spelling test on January 15, the students will take their returned pledge sheets, back to the sponsors and collect the pledged donations. Collected donations are turned in by February 10 after which prizes will be distributed by February 16.

Individual student prizes will be awarded for academic achievement and fundraising. The items are listed on the prize list on the back of the sponsor folder. In addition to individual prizes we are excited to announce a few special prizes:

• The classes with the highest donation will be awarded a special event with Mrs. Walker.
• The Top 3 Super Donation Achievers will be celebrating with a special breakfast with Mrs. Walker in the Science Room where they will be presented with a special prize.
