Have you herd the Moos? Our school is organizing the second annual “Day on the Green” fundraiser! It will be held Saturday, May 22nd from 11am – 4pm on the school playground and field. Highlights of the event include a barbecue picnic, live bands, crafts and activities for kids, local artisans & exhibitors, a ‘Fur, Scales, and Tails’ Animal Show and, of course, Cow Pie Bingo! The lucky winner of the Cow Pie Bingo has a chance to win some “moo-la” at a beefy $5,000!
Generally, we all know that dairy cows are the source of milk in many homes but did you know they also produce pie? And we are not talking the apple or cherry kind! Our BV field will be sectioned into 1000 squares; the tickets for each square will be sold for $25 a piece. The week before the event the tickets will be randomly assigned by a computer to a spot on the Bingo Board, painted on the field. The cow “in-charge” of the event will be led onto the board and whichever square the cow lays the “pie” will win the udderly fabulous cash prize!
This FREE admission event is open to all Buena Vista Parents as well as friends, families, clients and acquaintances! It is a great opportunity for us to provide an enjoyable day for our community while benefiting the children at the school. Envelopes with information about selling tickets will be coming home on Monday, April 26th and will be due back Wednesday May 12th. Also, please look for more information about the great bands playing and the fun activities in the weekly eNews!
If you have any questions please contact Amy Borke at 925-330-0117. Or if you would like to purchase exhibitor space contact Jennifer Johansen at 925-989-0866. Don’t miss out on this family fun day and the chance to corral a milky-smooth grand prize! |

Super Secret Silent Auction - SSSA
Each year, our Buena Vista staff and parents eagerly anticipate the annual Auction, an opportunity to come together to celebrate and have fun, while also contributing significantly to our school programs. This year the Buena Vista Auction "Around the World" is Saturday, March 6th. A tradition at this event has always been the auctioning of creative opportunities for some lucky children to spend individual time with their teachers! These activities have always been highly sought-after silent auction items for parents to purchase. The winning bidders will be announced at the Auction event and posted outside the office. Look for a letter from your child's teacher describing the "teacher treat" offered this year. All of the teacher treats will be listed in the Auction catalog. You may bid on the item by filling out a bid pledge, located in the teacher's letter, the catalog, or the office. You may also email your bid to

. You can also drop your bid off in person at the "Around the World" Auction on Saturday, March 6th until 7:30pm. Winners will be announced at 7:45 pm and posted outside the office on Sunday. Traditionally, most teacher treats are won by a bid of at least $100. Remember, this is designed as a silent bid, (shh, don't discuss your bid with others) and please remember that all monies raised will go directly to our school programs. |

Book Fair hours are daily Monday - Friday, December 7-11, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Book Fair hours during Feast At The Fair on Tuesday, December 8, are from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
- Feast At the Fair is Tuesday December 8, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
This is a fabulous opportunity to get books at terrific prices, including offers not available at bookstores. There is something for everyone, from Preschool to Adult. Book Fair also has a great selection of books for holiday gift giving. You may also wish to donate a book to a classroom. The teachers have selected a wish list of books that they would like to have in their classrooms. Find the lists, and the books, at Book Fair. Buena Vista is one of hundreds of schools across the country that participates in One For Books. Every dollar donated by a BV family stays here in our community, providing books to local families in need.
In ADDITION, Scholastic matches with a donation of one book per dollar, up to one million books, to three national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., National Center for Family Literacy, and Toys for Tots. As Scholastic says: this is a great double-dip opportunity to get books in the hands of kids!
Our popular Feast At the Fair is back! Come spend an enjoyable evening with your family. There's no need to worry about dinner -- Have a great pizza dinner in the Multi-Use Room and then wander over to the Book Fair. The Feast will be on Tuesday, December 8th, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will include pizza, salad, a drink and a cookie, all for $4.00 per person. Additional slices of pizza will be available for $1.50 per slice.
Raffles are back this year! Attend Book Fair and enter to win terrific prizes. All raffle proceeds will be used to support the Buena Vista Library.
If you would like to volunteer to spend an hour or two during recess, lunch, or after school helping with Book Fair, please contact LeAnn Quinn or Julie Persse at
